Due to it’s affordability and straightforward design, the Vermonter might be our best-selling shed. A wide range of available sizes makes this storage building suitable for a wide variety of purposes.
The budget-friendly Vermonter is a no-frill storage shed that fits neatly into nearly any backyard. The simplicity of this design makes it very popular because it resembles a mini barn. With a wall height just over 5′ this shed won’t overpower existing structures on your property either. A set of heavy duty 2″ thick pine double doors, with treated ramp, create a generous entrance for easy access. The frame is built with rough sawn hemlock lumber and pine board siding finish the exterior. The shed is topped off with an Evergreen corrugated metal roof. We find the smaller sizes are perfect for storing your basic landscaping equipment. Go larger if you want to include a riding lawnmower, ATVs, or a snowmobile. Many mid-range farm animals love to call the Vermonter home. We’ve seen it used to house goats and sheep often.
Choose Your Size & Type
Start by choosing your size and preferred format. This outdoor storage shed is offered in sizes ranging from 8’x8′ up to 10’x20′. We offer complete shells as complete kits with do-it-yourself instructions or pre-assembled. We ship kits anywhere within the Continental United States and parts of Eastern Canada. Fully assembled builds are available to customers whose building sites are located within 300 miles of our factory.
• Complete Shell – With this package you get everything needed to set up an uninsulated shell. Floor system, wall and roof framing, siding, a metal roof, door, and windows come with this package. The shell makes a wonderful backyard storage shed, recycling storage unit, small barn for livestock, or workshop. The Vermonter may be ordered as a pre-cut kit or fully assembled. Because this design has been around for long, it is an incredible carpentry project for beginners who want to learn basic post and beam framing techniques.
Each type of building comes with default options that match our specifications. However, if you want to personalize your building, we have made that process a breeze. As you go through each step, you’ll be able to pick and choose which options you want.
• Strengthen – The Vermonter was designed with New England weather conditions in mind. But that doesn’t mean you can’t beef it up even more. Consider ordering a treated floor system if you are using the building to store a lot of stuff, especially if it will be placed in a damp location. The floor joists and roof rafters can have their weight rating increased by upgrading from 24” on center to 16” on center placements. Termite shields and shed anchors will provide additional protection too.
• Personalize – One of the best things about our Vermonter shed is that it is so easy to change the style with a few upgrades. We have lots of siding and roofing styles to choose from to enhance the look of this post and beam shed. Once it is delivered paint or stain it to your liking. Want some ideas? Pine or Cedar Clapboard siding looks amazing on this shed, it can really make it look quite luxurious. Or if you want to convert the building into a potting shed or greenhouse consider upgrading to a Clear Poly roof for an abundance of natural light.
• Add-Ons – Order a pair of wrought iron brackets to hang on either side of the door, then hang potted flowers from them for a welcoming entrance. If you want to add architectural interest to your shed consider getting some of our hand-crafted add-ons. The 4’x8′ Decorative Cupola sits right on top of your building to transform the building style into a Sugar Shack. Weathervanes are a cute addition too, and you can select from several styles.
