Originally designed to be a Tool Shed used here at our shop, this post and beam build provides spacious storage or can be used as a tiny home or workshop. This cottage’s eye-catching roof is a hip scheme with galvanized metal and a gable dormer as the lead emphasis. Order it as a shell for storage or livestock shelter use. Insulation options allow this shed to be converted into a detached guest room, backyard office or tiny home.

Choose Your Size & Type

Start by choosing your size and preferred format. We offer this design in sizes ranging from 8’x12′ up to 12’x20′. Pick from a complete shell, Three Season, or Four Season as a pre-cut kit. Fully assembled builds are available to customers whose building sites are located within 300 miles of our factory. Pick from the following:

• Complete Shell – Comes with everything needed to set up an uninsulated Tool Shed. Rough sawn hemlock lumber is used to frame out the floor, walls, and roof. CDX plywood tops the floor. Eastern White Pine board and batten siding and a corrugated metal roof (29-gauge) enclose the space. A set of heavy-duty pine double doors with treated ramp provide an entrance, and two barn sash windows bring natural light into the space.

• Three Season – This package includes an insulated floor, wall and roof vapor barrier, and solid pine roof sheathing in addition to everything that comes with the shell. If you want to insulate later on, or just need comfort spring through fall, then this is a good option.

• Four Season – Get comfort year-round with our fully insulated option. The floor and roof are insulated with fiberglass insulation and vapor barrier. The walls get rigid foam board insulation. Then, the interior is finished off with shiplap pine ceiling and wall sheathing. Additionally, energy-efficient double pane windows and an insulated door are included.

Customize

Each Tool Shed comes with default options like board and batten siding, and an evergreen metal roof. If you would like to personalize your post and beam building, we have made that process a breeze. We let you pick out your options, step-by-step, in our configurator. Here are some of the ways you can modify your building:

• Strengthen – Our buildings are built to withstand harsh New England weather but we also offer options to increase its durability. This building defaults to joists and rafters placed at 24” on center, but you could upgrade to 16” on center to increase weight ratings. If your building site is placed in a damp area you might also consider opting for treated skids, or a completely treated floor system. Tongue and groove pine decking is also strong and very attractive if you like natural wood flooring.

• Personalize – We know you probably already have a vision of what your dream shed or cottage will look like. For that reason, we keep a variety of siding and roofing options that allow you to match your building to your tastes. Pine and cedar siding, a variety of roofing materials like asphalt and cedar shingles are a few of the ways you can change up the look of your Tool Shed or tiny home. Horizontal pine or red cedar clapboard looks amazing on this building. We have also seen customers create a secure window solution by installing transom windows high up in the wall.

• Add-Ons – Flower boxes, weathervanes and wrought iron brackets are purchasable items that could be included to dress up your shed or cabin. Termite shields and shed anchors also offer additional protection from extreme weather conditions and insects.
