The Hardware Shed has saltbox timber shed design, without the typical saltbox feel. You will not find a design like this at a conventional shed store. The different wall heights add to the curious shape and the arched door feels like it opens right up to a fantasy world. Clients have modified this design to use as an outdoor bathroom/outhouse complete with a Nature’s Head composting toilet, as a chicken coop after adding nesting boxes and a 12”x12” chicken door, and as a playhouse. Not to mention, as a picturesque garden and storage shed. Perhaps you are just looking to store smelly sports gear. This is an ideal timber frame shed to keep those hockey pads safe but far away from stinking up the house. Children absolutely love this design as a backyard playhouse too.

Our Hardware Shed may be purchased in sizes ranging from 4’x10′ up to 8’x10′. Pick from a kit or a fully assembled storage unit. We ship kits anywhere within the Continental United States and parts of Eastern Canada. Assembled buildings may be shipped up to 300 miles from our factory in South Londonderry, Vermont.

• Complete Shell – With this package you get everything to build the Hardware Shed. Rough sawn hemlock floor framing and decking, hemlock post and beam wall framing, hemlock rafters, pine board siding, and a corrugated metal roof in Evergreen. Our carpentry crew custom builds the arched door at our factory. A barn sash window provides natural light.

Customize

This tiny Hardware Shed is a lot of fun to personalize. Since it has a small footprint choosing alternative siding, flooring, and roofing options won’t break the bank. We also offer a variety of options for enhancing the structural integrity of your shed as well.

• Strengthen – Upgrading your floor joists and roof rafters from 24” on center to 16” on center can strengthen your floor and roof weight ratings. While this isn’t always necessary, some of our customers live in extreme weather climates and enjoy having extra peace of mind. Upgrading the skids, joists, and floor decking to treated lumber protects your building if it is being built on damp ground. Termite shields and shed anchors may provide protection from pests and high winds.

• Personalize – We have simplified the process for modifying the look of your Hardware Shed. Upgrade the flooring, siding, and roofing to match your style. 2-inch-thick pine tongue and groove decking is a sturdy flooring choice that looks beautiful. Pine and cedar siding choices are all-natural and enhance the beauty of your storage building. Metal roofing is affordable, but you also have the option to pick architectural asphalt shingles, clear poly panels, or Western Red Cedar shingles or shakes for the roofing. Western Red Cedar Shake roofing adds a rustic, cottage feel to this small shed. Pair that with our Novelty Pine siding for a truly unique look. Once your shed is delivered and built, paint or stain it.

• Add-Ons – We have lots of other goodies you can purchase for your Hardware Shed building or kit. A cedar flower box placed under the window provides a great to plant a small herb garden or grow flowers. Topping off the roof with one of our copper weathervanes would be a cute addition too.
