Top 3 Hikes in Southern Vermont

Southern Vermont is home to some awesome scenic hiking trails that are beautiful all year round! Take a look at some of the National Parks in the area and you’ll find some stunning trails suitable for the whole family.

Here are just 3 of the best hikes in Southern Vermont.

Mount Olga Trail – Molly Stark State Park

Molly Stark State Park is found in Wilmington, Vermont, and is home to the Mount Olga trail! It takes about 90 minutes to complete the whole trail and it offers some incredible forest pathways that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

The woodlands are truly beautiful and peaceful, leaving you feeling as if you are walking in a fairy tale world.

Almost 1 mile in, you’ll have the opportunity to summit Mount Olga. The views from the top are incredible!

There is also a lookout tower along the trail, a former fireman’s watch, that offers amazing 360-degree views of Molly Stark State Park.

West River Trail – Jamaica State Park

Wonderful scenery awaits on the West River Trail! The trail in Jamaica State Park takes you 2 miles to the Cobb Brook Bridge.

With constant views of the Vermont hills, the trail takes you along the West River and follows the old West River Railroad.

This section of Jamaica State Park is universally accessible! Take a stroll, go for a run, or even bring your bike, the hiking trail in Southern Vermont is perfect for the whole family.

Once you cross the Cobb Brook Bridge, you can walk ahead another 0.5 miles to the Ball Mountain Dam.

Hamilton Falls Trail – Jamaica State Park

Another awesome hike in the beautiful Jamaica State Park, the Hamilton Falls Trail. You’ll walk the same 2 miles towards Cobb Brook Bridge where you’ll find an intersection, take the route for Hamilton Falls.

You’ll walk another mile before reaching a steep section that takes you to the base of Hamilton Falls.

You can head to the top of the waterfall by following the trail to the end and heading along Hamilton Falls Road, and then following a path to the top of the 125 foot waterfall.

Please take care on the rocks, they can be very slippery!
