Basic Overhang Kit

A lean-to, side overhang is an easy, and cost-effective, way to increase built-in storage space or shelter for a shed, barn or garage. Canoes and kayaks, recreational vehicles, snowmobiles, tractors, and firewood are some of the objects that are usually kept under an overhang. Side overhangs provide overhead protection while conveniently increasing access for items that get frequent use. Gaining additional storage is the key reason someone would purchase an overhang, but they can also be used for other functions. Some examples could include a covered backyard dining/seating and grilling area, outdoor vendor display space, or farm stand shopping area. This basic overhang Kit fits our New Yorker, Vermonter, Nantucket, Bunkie and Greenhouse designs.

Other Important Info

The roof pitch of the overhang kit is 3/12. Reference your buildings specifications wall height and the roof pitch to determine if the outer wall height will work. Keep in mind where you will be placing doors and what the swing will be. The Vermonter and Nantucket sheds have shorter wall heights so this Enclosure Kit would only be recommended for use as part of a child's playhouse and not for adult use.

This overhang kit has been designed for installation on the bearing wall of basic designs. If purchasing to install on a building not designed by Jamaica Cottage Shop, we recommend working with an experienced builder.

This overhang may be ordered to be installed by Jamaica Cottage Shop. The installation fee is $15 sq/ft. The building site must not be more than 50 feet from where the truck is parked.
