Homesteading Plans Package
Get your homestead ready with this curated selection of some of our favorite off-grid buildings. The Vermont Cabin, Working Outhouse, Woodbin and New Yorker B Shed work together to provide you with a comfortable living space.
If you have ever considered an off-grid lifestyle, this post and beam building plans package will give you a great place to start turning those dreams into a reality. We carefully curated this bunch of building designs with self-sustainability in mind. The Vermont Cabin, one of our most popular homes, provides 600 square feet of living space on the first floor, with a full loft. The 4x4 Working Outhouse will take care of some of your plumbing needs, and the 8x20 Woodbin provides enough space to stack 7 cords of firewood to heat your home all winter long. We know how much homesteaders love snowmobiling and riding their ATV’s, so this bundle also includes plans to build a 10x14 New Yorker storage shed with double doors and a ramp.
Each set of plans includes a materials list to help you shop for all of the lumber, roofing, windows, doors and hardware that will be needed to construct your build. Or use it to comparison shop to see how much you would save by buying our pre-cut kits. Rafter templates can be traced on your purchased lumber to get the angles just right for the roof. A color-coded cut list organizes the pieces that will need to be cut by section, and outlines lengths and angle cuts for each piece of lumber. Written instructions, with detailed diagrams will explain each step of the building process, starting with foundation options. Learn how to set up your floor systems, erect the post and beam wall framing, and get the rafters plumb. The Vermont Cabin plans come with a handy exploded view diagram to use as a quick reference as you are building.
When you purchase this bundle, we mail out a hard copy printed out on 8-1/2x11” paper sealed in a ClearPoly bag via USPS priority mail. While you are waiting for the hardcopy you also get digital access to the plans for immediate viewing. From the plans portal you can flip through the pages and utilize the table of contents to quickly get from one section to the next. Printable rafter templates can be downloaded if you need those right away, or if you mess up the hard copy templates that we mail you.
