Get your homestead ready with this curated selection of some of our favorite off-grid buildings. The Vermont Cabin, Working Outhouse, Woodbin and New Yorker B Shed work together to provide you with a comfortable living space.
If you have ever considered an off-grid lifestyle, this post and beam building plans package will give you a great place to start turning those dreams into a reality. We carefully curated this bunch of building designs with self-sustainability in mind. This package is a set of four building plans to help you bring your homesteading dreams to life.
The 20×30 Vermont Cabin, one of our most popular homes, provides 600 square feet of living space on the first floor, with a full loft. The 4×4 Working Outhouse will take care of some of your plumbing needs, and the 8×20 Woodbin provides enough space to stack 7 cords of firewood to heat your home all winter long. We know how much homesteaders love snowmobiling and riding their ATV’s, so this bundle also includes plans to build a 10×14 New Yorker storage shed with double doors and a ramp.
These step-by-step instructions guide you to build the project at hand and also are written to help you learn core post and beam carpentry concepts. Each set of plans includes a materials shopping list, a detailed cut list, and traceable rafter patterns. The trigonometry of the roof triangles has all been simplified with tracing the cut out roof templates.
Each purchase of DIY Plans includes a hard copy shipped via USPS as well as digital access through JamaicaCottageShop.com
Thinking of purchasing a kit? Purchasing the Plans alone is often a great first step and can help with planning and permitting processes.
Each set of plans includes:
• Comprehensive Building Instructions
• Foundation Options
• A shopping materials list
• A color coded cut list
Note: Pre-Cut Kits come with a set of plans. When you’re ready to move forward with your kit, we’re happy to issue a credit or coupon so you don’t pay for the plans twice!
Building designs are widely intended for do-it-yourself homeowners. For some of the larger cabins, 4-Season projects, or if you intend to make modifications, it’s recommended to work with an experienced carpenter or contractor. Note that plans are not blueprints. They are instructions to build the project. Engineered calculations and drawings may be possible for your project–call 802-297-3760 to speak with a designer.
