Vermont Cottage A Plans
Learn how to build the Vermont Cottage A design with our step-by-step building instructions.
The creativity is endless with Jamaica Cottage Shop’s Vermont Cottage series. The Vermont Cottage A can be used as living space, used for livestock, or you can upgrade your storage! This would make a perfect camping cabin for days in the woods or it can be upgraded for year-round living if you are looking to downsize and personalize your very own tiny home.  Our easy-to-follow plans make assembly hassle-free allowing you to build on your own if you so choose. Included in our color-coded plans are the specifications of the design along with some recommendations and breakdown of all the material included in our kit. Find a piece of land for your very own sanctuary and let us show you how easy it is for your dreams to come true. The Vermont Cottage A is available in three sizes, 16×20, 16×24, and 16×30 so you can choose what is best for your needs.
This design has 4×4 post and beam wall framing with a roof height of 14’6” at the highest peak. This charming one room cottage has an open floor plan with high ceilings and a loft with ladder access. Imagine having your very own studio to create in or a cozy retreat with a sleeping space for your guests up on the loft! This design has a porch on the bearing wall for you to sit and enjoy good company or gaze out into the beautiful views of nature as you relax. Adding floor, wall, and roof insulation along with some insulated windows would make this rustic cabin a place to enjoy all year round. Inside you have a blank canvas ready to work with. You could add a woodstove to keep you warm as the snow falls outside or those brisk fall nights. A live edge countertop to use if you intend on installing your own kitchen or as a beautiful gardening shelf. You could add some extra windows, including our colorful and locally made hand blown glass roundels.
Think of the convenience of a composting toilet, or even install solar panels for off the grid living.  There are some other upgrades to consider including the wide variety of metal roofing colors we offer, or you could choose to use cedar or asphalt shingles. We also offer weathervanes, nesting boxes, and flower boxes that could be added to your design. Our skinned hemlock posts would add so much extra charm to the porch! Offered as frame only, complete pre-cut kits, 3 and 4 season kits, or just our easy step-by-step plans, it has never been easier to construct your very own post and beam cottage for your storage, livestock or living needs. So go ahead, get yourself something great!
