All About The Equipment Shed

The Equipment Storage Shed design is a must have for the equipment operator, hearty homesteader, or big toy collector. 6″x6″ Post and Beam construction with 2″x12″ Box Beams provides a robust yet easy to build structure. The saltbox roof style sheds most of the snow and rain to the back of the building. For a three-bay garage, pick one of the 36 foot wide styles. For even more storage, we also offer a four-bay, 48 foot wide size. Add windows to give it even more natural light, a great idea when using as a workshop. Install your own garage doors for vehicle storage, or partitions to create stalls for livestock and animals. This versatile design and rugged frame provide an affordable solution for your shelter needs that will last for years and years to come.

Choose Your Size

We offer our Equipment Shed in sizes ranging from 720′ to 1,152′ square feet. This Pre-Cut Kit can be purchased in the following sizes: 20’x36′, 24’x36′ and 24’x48′. The 36-foot-long buildings have three rough openings. The 48-foot-long shed has four openings.

• Complete Shell – With this package you get everything needed to set up the Equipment Shed shell. A treated sill plate, hemlock wall and roof framing, siding, and a metal roof come with this package. This jumbo storage shed may be ordered as a Pre-Cut Kit delivered anywhere in the Continental United States and parts of Canada.

Each type of building comes with default options that match our specifications. However, if you want to personalize your garage, barn or workshop, we have made that process a breeze. As you go through each step, you’ll be able to pick and choose which options you want.

• Strengthen – Our post and beam Equipment Shed was designed with New England weather conditions in mind. But that doesn’t mean you can’t strengthen it even more. Roof rafters can be upgraded to 16” on center for an increased snow load rating.

• Personalize – Enhance the look of your shed by choosing a different siding, or roofing. We offer a variety of pine and cedar siding choices. Roofing material comes in a variety of corrugated metal colors, cedar shingles, or clear poly roof panels. For those who want to change up the look from the classic board and batten siding, we have some ideas. Consider upgrading the siding to vertical shiplap pine. This streamlined siding choice will add a touch of elegance to your barn. Plus, without the need of battens, installing shiplap will be quicker to finish. Since many people use this building as a garage or backyard workshop, architectural asphalt shingles are a great way to match existing buildings on your property.

• Add-Ons – A premium trim package creates a polished look to the roof while using enclosure strips to close up the gaps in the metal roofing rib pattern. If you need some storage for your larger handled tools add some peg racks to the wall framing.

Once this Equipment Shed was built the customer stained it brown, and installed lighting inside and outside.
This post and beam equipment shed is shown with some modifications made by the client. They ordered custom doors for the four openings. They needed to order extra siding to enclose the fourth bay that has the single door.

What is a Pre-Cut Kit? What is included in this package?

The Pre-Cut lumber package has all the framing members cut and ready for assembly. It includes siding, roofing, pre-dimensioned trim, and fastening hardware. Many designs also include windows and doors. The floor system, walls and rafters have all been cut, color-coded and part numbered. The detailed cut list coincides with the color-coded exploded view. The head scratching has been removed, the headaches of finding the correct angles and the aggravation of starting from scratch has all been simplified. The kit is geared to a do-it-yourself homeowner with beginner-to-beginner knowledge of carpentry.

Should I buy a Pre-Cut Kit or Fully Assembled Building?

We design our kits to be organized and easy to understand. If you have basic carpentry skills and are looking to save money, a kit is a great idea for you. We ship our kits  all across the continental USA and part of Canada.

If you live within our Northeast delivery area, you are able to purchase many of our buildings Fully Assembled. You’ll save time and have the peace of mind that your cottage is being built by expert craftsmen.

What is a Complete Shell and What Comes With It?

A complete shell is an uninsulated building. As a kit, it includes everything required to assemble the building including hardware, precut framing, siding and roofing as well as doors and windows. Hardware, millwork sheathing and DIY plans have been enclosed. Each piece is color coded and part numbered. The exact itemization of what is inserted can be found on the specifications tab of the website for each product page design.

What is the difference between a 3-Season and 4-Season Insulation package?

3-Season –A three-season kit prepares the building for interior finishing. It includes the complete shell plus vapor barrier, solid roof sheathing and insulated floor system. A three season building seals the structure from humidity and moisture protecting from the environment, insects and rodents.

4-Season – Best for year-round comfort. The package includes everything a 3 season does with the addition of insulated thermal pane millwork, wall and roof insulation and pine interior sheathing.

Can I Customize My Building?
