This 5’×10′ Chicken Coop design is compact enough to fit in most yards while providing a few birds a comfortable abode. The 3’×5′ enclosed area provides the chickens with a place to bed down, while the 5’×7′ open area allows them fresh air and contact with their natural surroundings. The cottage style chicken coop can be moved around in the yard to give the chickens fresh ground to cover. If your space is limited, the shed roof design allows it to easily be pushed up against another building. In the colder months, lining the bottom of the coop with hay will keep your fowl friends comfortable. Consider customizing your coop by adding nesting boxes to the interior of this design.

We offer the Chicken Coop as a complete shell kit with do-it-yourself instructions. Or order it fully assembled. We ship pre-assembled coops to most customers who live within 300 miles of our factory in Londonderry, Vermont.

The Complete Shell – With this package you get everything needed to set up this 5’x10′ Chicken Coop. Wall and roof framing, siding, and a metal roof come with this package. Siding is a combination of hardware cloth and pine board and batten. The roof is unpainted 29-gauge corrugated metal. This particular build also comes with a screen door, solid pine door and a chicken door/ramp.

Customize

Our coops come with default options that match our specifications. However, if you want to personalize your purchase, we have made that process a breeze. As you go through each step, you’ll be able to pick and choose which options you want to style your coop.

• Strengthen – Consider upgrading the roof rafters to 16-inches on center to increase the weight rating. Shed anchors may be wrapped around the sill plate to secure your coop to the ground.

• Personalize – With the coops you can upgrade the roofing or siding to match your aesthetics. Siding choices include a variety of Eastern White Pine and Western Red Cedar options. For a quick change you can pick a different metal roof color, otherwise we have architectural asphalt shingles or Red Cedar shingles or shakes.
