Welcome to the New Design Showcase. Jamaica Cottage Shop designs, manufactures and markets all original small building creations, based off classic New England outbuildings in a rugged traditional style. You will not find our designs anywhere else. Here on this page we are asking for your help to determine which new designs should be developed into pre cut kits. Please vote for the designs of your choice. All the designs seen here on this page are currently available for purchase in a fully assembled format.

10x14 Pond House

Imagine setting this house next to your pond to enjoy as a changing area and toy storage add a wood stove and it can be a warming hut for ice skating. The building can be enjoyed throughout the four seasons. The four-foot porch on the front of this storage shed allows room for a sitting or swinging bench. The porch can be simple rustic or fancy with several accents including Newell post railings and Victorian corner brackets. The entryway can be further enhanced with an arch and decorative sunburst making for an eye catching entrance. The multi pane door is very welcoming to visitors. The horizontal clad board siding is eastern white pine or can be upgraded to western red cedar.

12x12 Bayside

This cottage represents our work very well. In designing each building for its intended use this building was first crafted for the spring and garden show circuit. The eye intriguing roof lines mixed with architectural details this charming little out building was a big hit. The roof is a reversed cross gable allowing a very eye intriguing interior. This glamorous outdoor storage shed will make a wonderful outbuilding addition as a guest cabin or bunk house.

12x14 Writer Haven

Imagine having your own private garden retreat to be alone with your thoughts. Just as Henry David Thoreau had his cabin on Walden Pond, you can have a sanctuary of your own. The translucent roofing and the abundance of windows, the natural light that fills this room is ideal for spending long days writing, reading, painting or simply relaxing. This little hideaway is a great place to take a summer siesta or use as a seasonal storage shed.

12x12 Potting Fort

This little garden cottage was designed and built as a sanctuary away from the main house. The porch on this pool house is a great spot for sipping red wine and watching the kids frolic in the pool. The dormer detail enhances the design and adds character and charm by breaking up the rooflines. Four opening barn sash windows, one single 3' door, and a workbench give this cottage its special uniqueness. Finishing touches include white cedar shingle siding and forest green metal roofing. Yes, this cottage would make a great backyard retreat, bunkhouse, or special poker night hide away.

12x16 Sugar Shack

A traditional New England design, the sugar shack can be seen pumping out smoke and billowing out a large steam cloud rising above the shack making it very clear that spring has arrived. The post and beam building is made from rough sawn lumber, the rugged heavy frame is the same construction that has stood for centuries. The true divided lights and metal roof make this storage shed an elegant charming and practical outbuilding.

12x16 Backyard Retreat

This little cottage is a playhouse for the child in all of us it has plenty of pizzazz! This one of a kind retreat is in a league of its own. The shed is shown here with optional antique barn board siding and western red cedar roof accented beautifully with copper flashing and ridge cap. The natural skinned hemlock post supplies a nice rustic earth tone to the job. The ten windows and nine light door fill this sanctuary with natural light making suitable as an artist studio or just a quiet retreat away from the main house, this building exudes enough charm and comfort to make anyone feel cozy.

12x20 Gibraltar

A lovely front porch is four feet by twenty feet making a great spot to sit. This storage shed design would make an excellent cabin in the woods or a garden and potting area. The interior is 160 square feet with access on the gable end with a five foot wide double door. Face the front of the building towards the main house and leave access for the large items on the gable end. The design is a very practical and decorative pool house or motorcycle storage building.
